Tomi and I had been Instagram friends for such a long time, and then he would send me a DM which I most of the times ignore or reply with just a word like 'okay' lol, a very painful response especially when he leaves me like a very lengthy message (he loves to write), or I just read and ignore. 

Fast forward to about two (2) years later, a friend of mine, a photographer had reached out to me that we should do a collaboration, where I do the makeup and he takes the picture , we usually do stuffs like this in order to promote our work, as a makeup artist that I am, this wasn't new to me so I told him I was down, on the condition that he would provide the model to be used, I had emphasized that she must be very fine, lol. 

The day of the shoot came and the very fine model was brought by my friend, the photographer, it happened to be that this fine model was (is) Tomi (my Instagram friend and my now husband to be)'s younger sister, lol. 

How did I know they were siblings?

After I was done with her makeup, just before the shoot started proper, we got talking and she was like "oh Moji, you are so pleasant and so beautiful, how I wish you can meet my brother, and he is single o' I laughed out very loud and of course was blushing at the compliment, so I asked her for a picture of her brother, she opened her phone and showed me her brother, and booooom! it was my friend on Instagram of over 2 years who had been begging me for my number, I didn't realize when I said it out loud, 'is this not this Instagram guy' lol. 

And she goes 'oh you know him?' I said 'yes, sort of, hes my friend on Instagram and he has been begging for my number for a while now' she politely asked if she could finally give him my number and I reluctantly said 'okay', in my mind, I would kuku block him if he tries anything, I mean blocking is always very easy for me.

Toke, my then model who became my friend and now my sister in-law played a huge role in making things work out between Tomi and I. I just never thought I could take Tomi seriously then, I saw him as a very fine guy who is probably in every lady's DM looking for who's heart to break next, but Toke would tell me, 'Moji, my brother is different'.

The back and forth went on for about a year, but my guy was very consistent, every morning he would send me a very long message of prayers and I would just reply with 'amen, thank you', some days I don't even reply at all. Now, that he had my number, he had the luxury of calling me every time but I never pick lol. At some point, we realized that we stayed in the same estate (Magodo Phase 2 ) but I would always say I'm not around. In the space of that one year, I allowed him to see me just once and I didn't even let him in, he was standing by the gate. (oh my baby!! lol I cant believe I made him go through all that).

Fast Forward to 2018, on my birthday, he had sent me a very big cake and ofcourse with a note (that I never read, its so painful to me now that I didn't), I managed to send him a thank you message for the cake, I didn't even take a picture of the cake, I was attending to my twelve (12) other cakes, lol.

He responded to my text saying his birthday was the following month (March, 17th) and that he would be having a party, so he wanted me to supply asun (goat meat) for his guests, I sell asun as a side hustle and I was happy to cater for his guests. Now we had something to talk about for another 1 month,lol,  so he would call me for one reason or the other whether it made sense or not, attimes he would call to change the number of guests or call to just talk about the asun, few days to his birthday, he called me to let me know that he would be travelling and so he's moving the party to the following weekend, (it was quite painful to me, I was already anticipating the money I would make), I said it was okay.

On his birthday, I didn't see a need to call, I mean he had moved the party to the next weekend, so I would call him by then, but a part of me said I should still call and wish him a happy birthday, before he changes his mind and not give me the asun contract again lol. So I eventually called him around 10pm on this birthday just before the day was over lol, when I called, I could feel and hear the excitement in the voice as he said 'wow!!!, so you eventually called me', (I wont even lie, I felt so important when he said that), he had been waiting for my call all day, he was so grateful for the call and then asked me for his birthday gift, I told him his gift would be a discount on the asun I was doing for him, he laughed and said 'you are a business woman, and I like that', he went further to say that, even though he likes the gift I was offering him, he wanted something else, so I asked him what he wanted and he said he wanted me to go out on a date with him when he's back, my response time was slow, but I eventually said 'okay, let me know when you are back'.

He came back, called me and yes, we had our very first date; when he came to pick me, I noticed something, I was already sitting in the car and I was wondering what he was doing before I saw him taking out his foot mat to dust it before entering the car, I asked 'do you do this often?' he said 'yes, I wont be comfortable if the foot mat is dusty', I scanned through the car and realized how clean his car was and the air fresher was on point, my car isn't even this neat I said to myself lol. He is a very neat person, that got me and gave him an immediate 50 points, I love a man who is very tidy, he was just being himself, he dint realize that he had scored himself some points in my heart.

That night was the beginning of a very beautiful thing in my life, we had a very long and intense chat, I had never given him a chance to talk like that, I realized he was way different from the perspective I had of him, he was very genuine , kind and our values and beliefs matched, so that night I said 'okay, lets see how it goes', I remember that night, he insisted that I  use the words 'yes, I will be your girlfriend',lol, (meanwhile, did I add that his sense of humor is out of this world ? he makes me laugh so much and I love it),  so I went ahead and said it the way he wanted to hear it 'Yes, I will be your girlfriend'.

I am not still sure the exact reason I said "yes" that night, when we talk about it now, he says maybe I was already low key feeling the boy the whole time, and just couldnt wait to say yes at our first officially date,lol,  I dont fully disagree with him, I was actually already feeling the very fine guy (Tall, Dark and Handsome with some extra, lol), so you wont blame me for feeling the boy. On a more serious note, I honestly think it was just about time that night, Tomi was God's plan for me, not to sound too spiritual here but my saying yes to him that night was the Holy Spirit helping me to make a decision, because He knew Tomi was my husband and I had stressed him way too much and He (Holy Spirit) was also already tired of my shakara and just helped me to answer, lol.

To cut the story short, I went back home that night with a new status - I am now someone's girlfriend. It felt very weird for me for a while, but my guy was patient with me throughout the process till I got used to it.

The rest is history, that is by far the best decision I have ever made in my adult life.!!!
